People caught 153 sturgeon on Lake Winnebago during opening weekend.
In the Upriver Lakes they caught 182.
DNR Fisheries Biologist Ryan Koenigs says those numbers are similar to the opening weekends in 2018 and 2016. He expects a full 16-day season on Lake Winnebago. He says numbers are good with around 19,500 adult females that are 20-30 years old or older and about 24,500 adult males in the population.
Koenigs predicts that the Upper Lakes season will close later this week on Thursday or Friday.
