High school freshmen from around the Fox Cities are converging on downtown Appleton today to learn about leadership.
The United Way Fox Cities works with students to put together the Teen Symposium at the Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley.
Mandi Dornfeld is the coordinator. She says the decisions you make as a freshman affect your path in life. And Dornfeld says that’s why they reach out to freshmen. She wants them to make healthy decisions and commit to things they love while contributing to their community.
About 350 freshmen are expected to be at the symposium. They’ll also have a chance to work on two volunteer projects and find out how they can help local nonprofit groups.
