A 38-year-old Appleton man is going to prison for 20 years in a sex trafficking case.
A jury found Joseph Newton guilty last December and he was sentenced this week. He was accused of repeatedly drugging and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old runaway at an Appleton apartment.
It comes after 39-year-old Willie Allison got 60 years in prison in a trafficking case last October. District Attorney Melinda Templis says their office is dedicated to solving sex trafficking cases throughout different communities.
State investigators believe Newton trafficked or sexually assaulted seven women. He was caught in Canada last June. He took off after a warrant was issued for his arrest in 2016.
