Police believe the suspect in a Neenah standoff was drunk and threatening neighbors.
Officer Stu Zuehls says a neighbor went to the police station around 11:30 p.m. yesterday to report the threats. Officers went to the house in the 400 block of Quarry Lane, on the east side.
Zuehls says 33-year-old Daniel Maher also threatened officers, and they believed he could have guns. He says they were talking with Maher for about seven hours, before negotiations broke down.
At that point, Zuehls says they broke down the front door and asked Maher to surrender. He was taken into custody peacefully.
Police are recommending a series of charges, including disorderly conduct and marijuana possession.
Zuehls says some of the neighbors were evacuated. School was called off at nearby Horace Mann Middle School.
