Assembly Republicans are rolling out plans to help the homeless.
They want to spend $3.7 million in a number of areas.
Majority Leader Jim Steineke of Vandenbroek says they’re trying to reach people at all stages of the cycle of homelessness.
The bills would set aside $500,000 for a prevention program, and $300,000 to create a program to direct the homeless into stable housing.
Steineke says they used recommendations from a special task force to put together the proposals. The bills would increase existing grants for shelters by $500,000, and provide another $900,000 to a housing assistance program.
