A lack of funding for maintenance at Neenah schools in previous years is playing a role in April’s big building referendum.
District Superintendent Mary Pfeiffer made that connection on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY this morning.
The school board is asking voters for almost $130 million for a variety of projects.
Pfeiffer says they’re now spending $2.1 million a year to maintain buildings. But she says that wasn’t the case when she took the job, and she quadrupled maintenance funding.
Pfeiffer says the district hasn’t had a building referendum in 24 years, and that’s another factor in the need for building upgrades.
The referendum will be on the April 2nd ballot.
