A 30-year-old Oshkosh man was the person killed in yesterday’s pileup on I-41 South in the Neenah area.
Andrew Schefelker was a middle school and high school science teacher for the Iola-Scandinavia district.
Seventy-one others were hurt.
Winnebago County Sheriff John Matz after checking state records, he believes the 131 vehicle, chain-reaction crash was the biggest crash in state history.
Matz thinks the pileup would’ve been a lot worse 20 years ago. He says cars have more safety features now, and I-41 is designed to help reduce crashes with injuries.
