A Fond du Lac school resource officer could be eliminated if the school district and city don’t come to an agreement.
Right now, there are five officers. The city pays half the salaries and the school district pays for the other half. A school district committee that oversees the program wants the district to pay less. The city disagrees and the committee is considering getting of one officer.
Parent Carrie Shipton doesn’t think that’s a good solution. She says school safety should be a top priority, and they should increase it if anything.
Some Fond du Lac school board members say they hear the concerns from the parents. They say it’s not a done deal and they’ll revisit the issue.
