Ruts of snow and ice are a pretty common site right now on many side streets around Appleton.
Public Works Director Paula Vandehey admits the situation is probably the worst that people have seen in a long time. But she hopes the warmer weather that’s coming will help.
There’s a chance of mixed precipitation this weekend.
Vandehey plans to have plow drivers out this weekend, no matter whether there’s a mix of precipitation. She thinks the existing snow and ice could start melting, and plows would be able to scrape it off.
Vandehey says a storm last month left the roads in their current condition. She says snow and rainwater quickly froze while the plows were out, and their blades couldn’t scrape that off the streets.
