Outagamie County’s leader says they’re talking with other counties about a regional facility for juveniles in northeast Wisconsin.
County Executive Tom Nelson says they closed their own juvenile center several years ago and converted it into a health care facility for county inmates. He says it’s easier to administer healthcare that way. He says they had a partnership with Winnebago County, but they weren’t equalizing the beds between them.
Nelson says officials from a number of counties got together earlier this week to explore regional facilities.
