Prosecutors are charging a driver’s education teacher with trying to have sex with a former student.
Appleton police say they arrested 74-year-old Charles Rodgers of Grand Chute after an undercover officer set up a meeting. He worked for an Appleton driving company that contracts with schools.
Outagamie County prosecutors say a girl came forward earlier this week after her friend told her Rodgers sent a late-night text. They say the girl reported Rodgers made crude comments to her when she was going through driver’s ed and touched her inappropriately. They say Rodgers also gave her a love letter when she completed her classes.
Prosecutors say an undercover officer posed as the girl and started texting Rodgers. They say Rodgers agreed to pick up the girl and take her to the driver’s school to have sex. He’s charged with child enticement and attempted sexual assault of a student.
