Governor Evers says he’ll push to increase funding for special education.
He included an additional $600 million in his proposed budget. Some Republican lawmakers think that’s too much. Evers disagrees. He says being flat-funded for over a decade isn’t the way to go. He also thinks that’s why most districts do referendums to get more resources for those programs.
Evers says he understands there will have to be compromises during the budget process. But he’s confident districts will be in a better place with special education funding moving forward.
