Appleton is the largest city in northeast Wisconsin to restrict the use of electronic cigarettes.
The city council last night voted unanimously to ban e-cigarettes in public. In a separate vote the council voted 12-2 to exempt vape shops from the ban.
This means anywhere it’s illegal to smoke in the city it will also be illegal to use e-cigarettes.
Alderwoman Cathy Spears proposed the ban. She calls the use of e-cigarettes, especially for young people a crisis.
The Kimberly village administrator says they’re talking about a similar ban.
