Republican lawmakers are asking a state appeals court to block a judge’s order that temporarily restores the powers of Governor Evers and Attorney General Josh Kaul.
Majority Republicans in the Legislature passed a series of laws in a lame-duck session last year. They stripped some of the powers of the offices before the two Democrats were sworn in.
Dane County Judge Richard Niess made his ruling yesterday.
An attorney for Republicans notified the 3rd District Court of Appeals that they’ll ask the judges to take up the case.
