Six groups are getting some grant money from a fund through the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region.
The $136,000 is coming from the Bright Idea Fund. It focuses on programs that improve self-sufficiency and community development.
The largest grant is going to Valley Packaging. Spokeswoman Megan Mulholland says the company is getting $55,000 to expand their outreach to people with disabilities, and teach them skills.
The Child Advocacy Center will receive $30,000 to hire more staff to handle an increase in child abuse cases.
The Calumet County Historical Society will use nearly $30,000 to create a series of public murals in Chilton and Stockbridge.
A grant for nearly $10,000 will help Menasha extend the Province Trail. About $6,200 will go to Fox Cities Greenways to find volunteers to provide trishaw bicycle rides to non-driving seniors. More than $5,600 is going to the Women’s Fund for the Fox Valley Region to add mental health services to participants in two programs for young women.
