A lawmaker on a special state council on domestic abuse is disappointed Governor Evers is rescinding the appointments of some members.
Majority Republicans confirmed eight positions on the committee during last year’s lame-duck session. Evers decided last Friday to withdraw all 82 appointments by former Republican Governor Scott Walker.
Republican Sen. Andre Jacque of De Pere says some of the members are advocates and domestic abuse survivors. He’s accusing Evers of trying to score political points, and he thinks it could cause chaos.
A Dane County judge ruled last week that all of the actions during the lame-duck session were unconstitutional. A state appeals court could decide whether to block the decision.
