Governor Evers doesn’t expect a lot of push back on the gas tax he’s proposing in his budget.
The non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau looked at the numbers. The group thinks the initial eight-cent tax hike will increase to nearly ten cents over two years. He says the proposed budget has the lowest amount of borrowing in a long time. He says it’ll also give money to municipalities to fix their roads.
Evers says the bottom line is people know we need resources for the transportation system and they know that money has to come from somewhere.
