Republicans in Congress are looking to head off a campaign promise by some of the Democratic candidates for President.
Congressman Mike Gallagher of Green Bay is sponsor of a Constitutional amendment that would keep the number of Supreme Court Justices at nine. He says the Democratic proposal is dangerous because it attacks the legitimacy of the highest court in the land.
Presidential candidates Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and Kirsten Gillebrand have expressed an openness to adding more Supreme Court Justices if elected.
