Ashwaubenon leaders hope to prevent crimes like human trafficking and drugs with a new law.
It requires hotels and short-term rentals to collect information about the people staying there in case police need it.
General Manager Ron Zellers works at a Hampton Inn near Lambeau Field. He says police used to have to get a court order to learn anything about a guest. Zellers thinks this will speed up the process.
Zeller thinks the rule will help keep guests safer. The businesses can decide how long they want to keep the information on file.
