State lawmakers could take up two proposals to help people with dyslexia.
Wisconsin is one of two states that don’t have any laws to protect people with the learning disability.
Lisa Martin’s daughter was diagnosed with it. She says schools tried to help, but didn’t have the right resources to deal with dyslexia.
One of the bills would create a dyslexia handbook to guide schools on how they can help students with the learning disability. The second would set up a new dyslexia specialist position at the Department of Public Instruction.
