The Days Inn in Kaukauna is caught up on hotel room tax payments, after the city threatened to close it.
Mayor Tony Penterman says the city got an order from an Outagamie County judge to shut it down, last Friday. Since the city delivered the order on Tuesday, Penterman says the owner has paid the $25,000 bill.
He says the owner is in the process of upgrading all of the rooms. Construction on Highway 55 also impacted the hotel last year.
Penterman says they technically could’ve shut down the hotel right away, but that’s the last thing the city wanted to do. He believes the remodeling project proves the owner plans to stay for the long term.
Penterman says the owner also plans to catch up on property tax payments, by the end of the month.
