Green Bay’s police chief says one of the department’s K-9’s is in tough shape, after a suspect stabbed the dog.
Pyro is at an animal hospital following last night’s stabbing. Chief Andrew Smith plans to release more information during a press conference later this afternoon.
The dog’s veterinarian says the next 24 hours will be critical.
Smith says the dog is receiving an outpouring of support from the community, with offers to donate money to help pay for his treatment. They can send donations to the police station on S. Adams Street.
Green Bay officers went to a west side home last night for a report of a man with a gun. They say Pyro bit the suspect, and that’s when the man stabbed the dog several times in the neck.
