A Republican from the Green Bay area is questioning why Milwaukee isn’t doing more to prevent sewer overflows.
Rep. John Macco of Ledgeview says NEW Water shelled out tens of millions of dollars to improve the water quality in Lake Michigan.
In Milwaukee last month, the sewage district dumped more than 280 million gallons of untreated sewage into rivers that feed into Lake Michigan. Macco wonders why the district isn’t being forced to make more upgrades.
Macco also wants the DNR to continue cracking down on Ledgeview Farms. He says the mega-farm isn’t following regulations, and that’s hurting the reputation of farms that are doing their part.
