There are more fish in the pond at Appleton’s Memorial Park this spring.
DNR spokesman Ed Culhane says they stocked it several days ago with about 500 rainbow trout. He says they’ll stock those every spring.
The DNR and the city worked together to treat the pond to get rid of the carp that overran it. It was ready about a year ago with self-sustaining fish like bass, perch, and bluegill.
There’s a special fishing season at the pond for children and people with disabilities. It runs until April 26th.
