The daughter of a man who died while in police custody is suing the city of Fond du Lac, the police department and paramedics.
Christopher Cary died last December, shortly after a traffic stop.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says Cary swallowed cocaine to try to avoid being caught with the drug.
The suit claims police didn’t do enough to help him, and officers shouldn’t have been able to search his car just because he was carrying over $600.
Toney says the officer called for backup because Cary had a long criminal record, and an open case on cocaine charges.
