Green Bay police do have insurance for its K-9s.
Some people started asking about that after Pyro was stabbed earlier this week.
Police Chief Andrew Smith isn’t sure how much the department will have to pay for the dog’s medical costs. He thinks they have a $10,000 deductible.
Bark N’ Blue Foundation has raised over $35,000 on Facebook for Pyro. The expenses aren’t more than that right now.
A spokeswoman says they’ll set aside any leftover money for Pyro’s ongoing care.
