Fond du Lac County 911 is launching a first-of-its-kind program in the state that could prove to be lifesaving.
The idea of Smart911 is to help dispatchers pinpoint locations in emergencies.
Director of communications Bobbi Hicken says it’s easy for dispatchers to pinpoint location when people call in from a land line but tracking cell phones are more complicated.
Hicken explains Smart911 is a secure website where people can go to log in personal information.
She says information can be as detailed as a person wants and can include medical history for each person in the home, information about pets and even people to contact in case of an emergency.
