Work is starting on a new fire station in Greenville.
58 percent of voters agreed to spend up to $6.5 million in a referendum last August.
Joel Gregozeski is the town administrator. He says they officially broke ground last week, and some of the heavy construction will start next week.
Gregozeski believes it will take eight months to finish. The new station will be kiddie-corner from the existing one. The current station is 50 years old.
The public works department will use the building once firefighters move out.
