The United Way Fox Cities is highlighting a number of programs.
President Peter Kelly says they handed out more than 100,000 books last year, to help young children be ready to learn when they get to school.
The agency also worked to improve the grades of African-American students, and reduce teen suicide rates.
Kelly says for the rest of 2019, they’re looking forward to focusing on mental health in schools, and reducing poverty in the community.
The United Way Fox Cities held its annual Report to the Community this morning in downtown Appleton.
