Lawmakers heard from people about the proposed state budget at UW-Green Bay yesterday.
It was the Joint Finance Committee’s fourth and last listening session. The majority of people at the university’s union supported the proposal from Governor Evers and they came from organized political groups.
Republican Representative John Nygren of Marinette doesn’t think that represents everyone. He says they have to consider everyone’s voice, not just the people that showed up to the meeting.
The budget debate now goes back to Madison for negotiations. Majority Republicans in the Legislature hope to have a plan to vote on by the end of June.
