Today’s official entry into the race for the White House by former Vice President Joe Biden is expected to have a big impact on the Democratic field of candidates.
Lawrence University political science professor Arnold Shober believes it’s now a two-man race between Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Shober thinks the situation is somewhat uncomfortable for some progressive members of the party. He says they might want more younger, diverse candidates, instead of two older, white candidates.
Shober believes Biden’s long history with the party gives him the inside track with Democratic insiders, and left-leaning independent voters. But he also says the past accusations of plagiarism, and unwanted physical contact with women, weaken Biden’s status as the Democratic frontrunner.
