The average response time for ambulance calls in Appleton is about five-and-a-half minutes.
Gold Cross Ambulance covers the city and a large part of the Fox Valley region.
Administrator Nick Romanesko says they get to 87 percent of their calls in less than eight minutes. He says they have a system that tracks calls and response times over the past five years.
During the day there are six ambulances inside the city or just across the border in Grand Chute and Menasha. That’s up from four in 2016.
Romanesko says their longer response times happen when they have multiple calls in one area of the city. He says they need to bring in an ambulance from farther away or call for mutual aid.
