On the day before President Trump holds a rally in the Green Bay area, a political science professor says it makes sense for the president to visit northeast Wisconsin.
UW-Oshkosh professor Jim Simmons says former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama won in the region when they were elected, and so did President Trump.
Simmons believes there’s a regular voting pattern in the state. He says Democrats win in Milwaukee and Madison, and Republicans have success in suburbs. He says northeast Wisconsin is one of the areas that helps decide elections.
He thinks Wisconsin will be one of eight or nine states that will be seriously contested in 2020.
Trump’s rally will be at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon. The doors open at 4 p.m. Saturday.
