A state lawmaker is talking about a study that shows the legalization of medical marijuana in the state would generate over $200 million a year.
Majority Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee say they’re taking the proposal to legalize medical marijuana out of the state budget.
Democratic Rep. David Bowen of Milwaukee thinks it holds the same amount of danger as keeping alcohol legal. He says people who use alcohol can do so responsibly, and he thinks there would be that same responsibility with marijuana use.
A Marquette Law School Poll showed that 83 percent of residents support medical marijuana. Some Republicans continue to oppose the measure.
