A new prayer and event center in Champion is now open.
The building and alter of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good help were blessed yesterday during a mass.
Bishop David Ricken says more than 160,000 people visited the shrine last year.
Chief Operations Officer Don Warden says they can now handle masses and events up to about 3,500 people. The shrine is the only one in the country that’s a church-approved site of an apparition of the Virgin Mary.
