Sturgeon spawning along the Wolf River is all but over.
DNR Fisheries Biologist Ryan Koenigs says they weren’t able to check on as many fish this year, because of high water levels. He thinks they examined up to 1,200 sturgeon.
Over the past five years, Koenigs believes they’ve been able to evaluate about 1,500 a year.
Koenigs says they measure the sturgeon, and implant a tracking chip, if they don’t already have one.
