Sen Robert Cowles announces he won't seek re-election in the newly redrawn 2nd District
A new law provides extra protection for car sales.
It makes it easier for the DOT to suspend or revoke licenses for car dealers to deal with fraud.
Republican Senator Rob Cowles of Allouez is a co-author and he pushed for the change because of a local case.
The complaints were about the Standard Pre-Owned dealership with locations in Kaukauna and Suamico. Cowles says before the new law it could take six-to-nine months to close a business. He says in the meantime workers could scam more people.
Governor Evers signed the law yesterday in Neenah.
