The wife of former state Sen. Mike Ellis says the naming of an interchange would mean a lot to her late husband.
The I-41 interchange with Highway 10-441 will be known as the Mike Ellis Memorial Interchange.
Sandy Ellis was with Governor Evers at a bill signing ceremony in Neenah yesterday. She says the idea that people care enough, to name an interchange after him, has to be a big honor. She thinks he’s looking down, and saying they recognized something he did for the good of the people.
Mark Ellis is the brother of the longtime Neenah Republican. He thinks the naming sends a message that lawmakers can get things done by working together, in a bi-partisan way.
Mike Ellis died last July, at 77.
