A Democrat from Oshkosh supports a bill that would end some exemptions for vaccines.
Right now parents can opt out for medical, religious, or personal reasons.
Assembly Minority Leader Gordon Hintz believes it’s about protecting the public. He says the personal exemption waiver puts public health at risk.
Republican Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt of Fond du Lac disagrees. He says the bill violates parental rights. 22 states currently have measles outbreaks. Wisconsin is not one of them.
