The tourism numbers in Winnebago County were a little better than the state’s.
The overall economic impact of the industry in the county rose by five percent to almost $500 million last year.
Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Amy Albright is crunching the numbers. She says Winnebago County was up almost 6 percent in direct visitor spending, which meant an increase of about $14 million.
The total visitor spending in Winnebago County reached $254 million. Albright credits their big events, like EAA AirVenture, but also the regular conferences and conventions that bring people to Oshkosh.
The entire state saw tourism grow by just under five percent last year.
