More stores are getting self-checkout lanes and one retailer is going another step further.
Meijer is expanding its “Shop and Scan” system to all of its stores.
Grand Chute Store Director Joe Robles says shoppers can download an app and scan items when they take them off shelves. He says customers can scan items on the app as they shop, and they can see the running total.
Robles says they can pay in the self-checkout area. He’s not concerned about making sure shoppers scan all of their items and don’t steal things. He says they have workers around the store and overseeing the self-checkout area.
