A doctor says the impact of an autonomic disorder can be different depending on the case.
Former Green Bay Packers General Manager Ted Thompson is revealing that he’s suffering from it.
Doctor Brian Jenkins of the Neuroscience Group in the Fox Cities says the disorder affects a person’s autonomic nervous system. He says it stretches from the brain and spinal chord to nerves in the body. He says it can affect things like heart rate.
It can also impact a person’s breathing. Jenkins stresses that he’s not Thompson’s doctor. Thompson says doctors don’t believe that his issues are connected to CTE, a brain damage disease that’s been tied to playing football. Thompson had a 10-year NFL career.
