A De Pere teen is back from Washington D.C. after receiving a prestigious honor.
Caragan Olles is one of 10 young people in the country to win The Prudential Spirit of Community Award.
When she was diagnosed with dyslexia in third grade Olles was surprised that some people didn’t know much about it. She partnered with her brother, Carter, to create a nonprofit group in 2013. She says it gave kids a way to get funding for tutoring, and gives teachers resources on how they can help kids with dyslexia.
Olles has helped raise more than $160,000 and the program is now available in 10 states. She’s a junior at Notre Dame Academy. Olles was in Washington D.C. last week to receive the award.
