The City of Appleton might stop collecting recyclables from businesses next year.
Public Works Director Paula Vandehey says they’re only picking up items for about 15 percent of companies in the city. Those businesses pay a fee. She says they’d need to replace the recycling truck. She says the cost of vehicles has gone up so much that they would be short $60,000.
Vandehey is recommending the change at the start of the new year. The city council will have to agree.
The city eliminated its commercial garbage pickup program a couple of years ago.
