A developer plans to keep the historical aspects of a building that’s part of a mixed-use project in downtown Appleton.
Gabriel Furniture closed last month, after nine decades of business. A developer is turning it into the Gabriel Lofts, with 21 apartments and two businesses.
Jack Klister of the Fore Development and Investment Group says they want to preserve the exterior and interior. He says that’s one of their biggest goals, and it gives the building character.
Gabriel Furniture opened in 1928, and the building dates back to the 1850s.
Klister hopes people will be able to start moving in next spring.
