The DOT is making some stopgap moves to try to improve safety along Highway 15 between Greenville and New London.
A 10-year-old boy was killed last week near Hortonville in the latest serious crash on that stretch. Over the past several years state lawmakers delayed an expansion of the highway and a bypass of Hortonville.
DOT spokesman Mark Kantola says they’re stepping up patrols starting on Monday. He says they’re also setting up speed limit trailers with radar.
Crews are also going to repaint lane lines if they’re faded and make sure signs are in good shape.
Governor Evers included funding in his proposed budget to start construction.
