Boaters can start using the Fox River Locks again starting today.
The Fox River Navigational System Authority will run them through September 15th.
Director Jeremy Cords says they’re working on a way to reopen the Menasha Lock by the spring of 2021. He believes the lack of accessibility to the rest of the system is hurting home sales around Little Lake Butte des Morts.
The authority wants to put an electric barrier in place to block an invasive fish called the round goby.
The Rapide Croche lock remains closed because of sea lamprey. Boaters can’t get through the Kaukauna locks either, because the Memorial Lift Bridge doesn’t work.
