A Green Bay police officer is getting a national honor for his dedication to service.
The J. Edgar Hoover Memorial Award goes to officers that seek and complete training and education to gain new skills in law enforcement.
Sgt. Michael Knetzger is a 27-year veteran of the department and he’s working on a doctorate in criminal justice management. He had some advice for people at an acceptance ceremony. He says they should catch officers doing things right, and recognize that. He says they appreciate that.
Knetzger is the 13th person from the state to get the award. It comes from the American Police Hall of Fame and Museum in Florida.
