The chair of the Outagamie County board is pointing to a study on a proposed half-cent county sales tax, and the overall savings for property taxpayers.
Supervisor Jeff Nooyen of Grand Chute was a guest on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY. He says the sales tax would bring in about $20 million in the first year. Nooyen believes after people read the report, they support the sales tax plan. He says that’s because some of the revenue would be used to lower property taxes.
The study shows the average property taxpayer would save between $58 and $113 a year.
The county board could vote on the tax next Tuesday.
