A Brown County man is facing formal charges for the murder of his missing wife.
About two weeks after he was arrested prosecutors are now filing charges against 73-year-old James Prokopovitz.
Victoria Prokopovitz was last seen in April of 2013. The 60-year-old woman’s cell phone and purse were at her home in Pittsfield.
Prosecutors say James changed his story on what happened on the day of her disappearance. They say he also told Victoria’s daughter that her mother is dead and she’s never coming back. He’s also accused of telling family members that they’re wasting their time searching for her.
Investigators say James had access to a sludge pond between his home and work and it would be hard to search it for a body. He’s also facing charges of obstructing police and perjury.
His girlfriend, Kathryn Friday, is accused of perjury and obstructing police as well.
